Cyberport signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Beijing International Big Data Exchange to explore the joint development of high-value data facilities

HONG KONG, 30 November 2023 - At the 26th Beijing-Hong Kong Economic Co-operation Fair (BJF) The Beijing-Hong Kong Digital Economy Industry Development Session was held today, at which Cyberport signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Beijing International Big Data Exchange (BDS) to jointly explore and jointly build infrastructure for high-value data, accelerate data circulation, enhance support for cutting-edge technology development and innovation, and promote the development of the digital economy industry and the construction of smart cities. The MoU was co-signed by Mr Jen King-shun, Chief Executive Officer of Cyberport, Mr. Zhai Yanjie, Chief Compliance Officer of Beijing Financial Holding Group and Director of Beijing International Big Data Exchange, witnessed by Mr Simon Chan, Chairman of Cyberport, and Fan Wenzhong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Beijing Financial Holding Group and Chairman of Beijing International Big Data Exchange, and witnessed by Mr Mao Dongjun, Deputy Director General and First Class Inspector of Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology (BIIT), and Mr Wong Chi-kwong, Chief Information Officer of the HKSAR Government.

Relying on the advantages of the technology and service capabilities of the enterprises settled in Cyberport, and the advantages of a wide range of data application scenarios in the field of data circulation and transaction infrastructure of BDS, the two parties will explore and jointly build infrastructure for the production, circulation and operation of high-value data elements, and explore and solve key issues such as supply and demand docking, data circulation and trading, security and compliance, reasonable distribution of revenue, and innovative financing of data assets for enterprises, especially small and medium-sized technology enterprises. At the same time, the two sides will promote the docking and cooperation between data research institutions, universities and enterprises in Beijing and Hong Kong, and promote talent exchanges between the two places.

Established in March 2021 by Beijing Financial Holding Group Co., Ltd., the Beijing International Big Data Exchange is a key project in the field of digital economy in Beijing, which is an important part of Beijing’s efforts to build a “Global Digital Economy Benchmark City”. Beijing Digital Institute has built five new data circulation service systems, including new technologies, new models, new rules, new risk control, and new ecology, to promote the standardized integration, rational allocation, market-oriented transactions, and long-term development of data resource elements, and to build itself into a leading data circulation infrastructure in China and an important international cross-border data flow hub.
