Phala Network on Polkadot Layer 2 Rollup

According to The Block, Phala, a parachain and computing platform based on Polkadot, has launched a new Layer 2 network on the Ethereum network.

This release is done in collaboration with the infrastructure providers Succinct Labs and Conduit.

Based on Polkadot’s parachain and verifiable computation platform Phala, in collaboration with infrastructure providers Succinct Labs and Conduit, a new Layer 2 network has been launched on the Ethereum network.

This Layer 2 rollup combines optimistic proof and zero-knowledge proof, using a technology called “OP Succinct”. This technology, developed by Succinct Labs, enhances the capability of optimistic rollups (especially those built on OP Stack) by combining zero-knowledge proof.

Meanwhile, Phala developers have used the rollup-as-a-service platform Conduit to help with the launch.

Although Phala operates as a parachain in the Polkadot ecosystem, this move will extend its service to the Ether ecosystem. With the continuous growth of the Layer 2 ecosystem of Ether, the number of rollups or Layer 2 chains on Ether will exceed 100 in 2024, triple the number at the end of 2023.

The migration of Phala Network to the Ether community signifies a bold shift to provide its confidential computing solution on the largest smart contract platform, the project pointed out.

Phala is well known for providing a network for application deployment, especially in the fields of decentralized computing and artificial intelligence. This security is achieved through Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), which are specialized hardware technologies that ensure secure and private code execution. TEEs allow developers to deploy confidential smart contracts in specific decentralized applications, such as AI agents.

Recently, Phala Network partnered with the AI agency development platform ai16z to build Eliza’s TEE. The system integrates TEE technology into Eliza’s multi-agent framework, providing encrypted verifiability and improved privacy to ensure secure interaction between AI agents.
