According to Bloomberg, Apple plans to launch a standalone Siri chat app in iOS 27 with enhanced privacy controls. Users will be able to set conversation retention options for 30 days, 1 year, or indefinitely, similar to iMessage settings.
The new Siri will utilize Apple Foundation Models alongside Google Gemini and portions of Google’s cloud infrastructure to improve generative AI capabilities. Apple maintains it will preserve privacy advantages through Private Cloud Compute and limit persistent data types and duration in Siri’s memory system. The app remains in beta testing internally despite being delayed two years from original plans.
