According to Odaily and bitcoin.com, Bitcoin mining difficulty experienced two double-digit adjustments in 2026. On February 7, difficulty fell 11.16% following Winter Storm Fern, which forced major mining operations offline in Texas and other U.S. regions. As miners resumed operations and hashrate recovered, difficulty surged 14.7% on February 19 to 14.44 quadrillion, marking the largest percentage increase since 2021. In June, difficulty declined again by 9.91% as some listed mining firms reallocated capacity toward AI and high-performance computing workloads.
