According to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a central spent nuclear fuel storage facility at Chornobyl on June 7 was attacked by drones, causing severe structural damage to parts of the complex, including an IAEA-staffed office responsible for nuclear safeguards. The agency confirmed that radiation levels at the facility showed no abnormalities following the attack.

IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that attacking Chornobyl's nuclear exclusion zone facilities is "playing with fire," emphasizing that such events must never occur.
