China Cracks Down on Wildlife Resource Crimes, Files 37,000 Cases Since 2025

According to China's Ministry of Public Security, police nationwide have filed 37,000 criminal cases related to wildlife resource destruction since 2025. As part of the "Safe Countryside 2025" operation, authorities have intensified enforcement against crimes targeting birds, ancient trees, and other ecological resources. The ministry has placed 59 cases under special supervision, including a timber theft case in Jilin province, as it seeks to protect biodiversity and ecological security.
