China's Foreign Ministry Responds to Japan's Defense Statement, Accuses Tokyo of Concealing Militaristic Past

According to state media CCTV, China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning responded yesterday to Japan's Defense Ministry statement, which claimed Beijing made "factually incorrect claims." Mao Ning said Japan avoids addressing its militaristic and imperialist history, instead rebranding overseas military deployments as collective self-defense, masking offensive military expansion as counter-strike capability development, and concealing weapons exports through equipment cooperation agreements. "Numbers do not lie," Mao Ning stated. "The more Japan conceals, the more the international community should remain vigilant."
