Etherscan Warning: Address Poisoning Attacks Surge 612% Following Ethereum Fusaka Upgrade

ETH-0.64%
ENS-2.29%

Gate News reports that on March 13, Etherscan issued a warning on social media that address poisoning attacks on Ethereum have surged significantly after the Fusaka upgrade. Data shows that between 2022 and 2024, there were approximately 17 million address poisoning attempts on the Ethereum network, affecting 1.3 million users, with confirmed losses of at least $79.3 million. After the Fusaka upgrade (December 3, 2025), transaction costs dropped sharply, leading to a surge in dust transfers and a 612% increase in poisoning attacks.

Etherscan recommends users take the following precautions: always manually verify the full target address before transferring funds (most important); add private name tags to frequently used addresses and use ENS domain names; enable Etherscan Address Highlight; and pay attention to pop-up alerts when copying addresses.
