EU Suspends Tariffs on Key Nitrogen Fertilizers for One Year, Expected to Save €60M

GateNews
According to EU Council statement, the European Union suspended tariffs on critical nitrogen fertilizers including urea and ammonia for one year as of May 22. The measure is designed to reduce costs for EU farmers and the fertilizer industry while diversifying supply chains and trading channels. The European Commission estimates the tariff suspension will save approximately €60 million in import duties for EU farmers and the fertilizer sector. The tariff relief does not apply to nitrogen fertilizers imported from Russia and Belarus. The measure will take effect the day after its publication in the EU Official Journal and remain in effect for one year.
