European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced the decision after talks with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The funds represent approximately 13% of Hungary's annual government budget and follow Hungary's commitment to address corruption and rule-of-law concerns, including joining the European Public Prosecutor's Office and strengthening anti-corruption institutions.
