Japan's Tokachi Volcano Erupts for First Time in 22 Years, Ash Column Reaches 200 Meters on July 22

According to the Sapporo Regional Meteorological Bureau, Japan's Tokachi volcano in Hokkaido erupted on July 22 at 11:07 AM local time, ejecting a black volcanic ash column reaching approximately 200 meters high. This marks the volcano's first eruption since 2004.

The eruption was accompanied by approximately 45 seconds of volcanic tremors and an air shock wave, known as air vibration, observed at the 62-2 crater on the Daisetsuzan volcanic system.
