Iran's Revolutionary Guard Claims Absolute Control of Strait of Hormuz, Demands Toll from Passing Vessels

Gate News message, April 28 — Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy deputy commander stated that Iran has achieved absolute control over the Strait of Hormuz and is demanding passage fees from transiting ships. He emphasized that the strait’s territorial sovereignty is inviolable, and foreign vessels must comply with Iranian-set regulations, including conducting communications in Persian.

The official declared, “Without orders from the Supreme Leader and the will of the people, Iran will not allow even a single liter of oil to flow through the strait.” He stressed that Iranian military forces are currently on high alert with “fingers on the trigger” and reiterated that U.S. military hegemony in the Persian Gulf has ended. He also asserted Iran’s capability to counter any form of maritime blockade.
