Nvidia's Huang Unveils Vera CPU: First Processor Designed for AI Agents at GTC Taipei 2026

According to Beating, Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun detailed Vera CPU during GTC Taipei 2026, calling it the first processor designed for AI agents rather than humans. Unlike traditional CPUs that optimize for human-scale interactions measured in seconds, Vera CPU prioritizes nanosecond-level latency required for agent tool calls and database access. The processor features 3.6 TB/s interconnect bandwidth—achieved through a novel optical architecture connecting all cores—and 1.2 TB/s LPDDR5 memory bandwidth, delivering 2-3 times the performance of the highest-end x86 CPUs, according to Huang.
