South Korean drug crime suspect Park Wang-yeol was handed over to prosecutors, and authorities will investigate his Bitcoin transaction records

On April 3, according to News1, Park Wang-ryul (47), who is suspected of distributing large quantities of drugs from the Philippines into South Korea, was today (April 3) transferred to South Korean prosecutors. Park Wang-ryul is suspected of smuggling and selling drugs in South Korea between November 2019 and July 2024; he collected drug transaction funds through bank transfers or Bitcoin e-wallets. The illegal proceeds of about 6.8 billion won (about $45.09 million) have already been identified, and the total scale of the crime amounts to 13.1 billion won (about $86.86 million). South Korea’s Joint Investigation Division for Drug Crime will focus on tracing the funds he concealed and will conduct in-depth analysis of Bitcoin transaction records tied to the alleged crimes.
