South Korea's Agricultural Import Prices Rise 10.8% in June, Highest in 3.5 Years

According to Korea Trade Statistics Promotion Agency, in June, the agricultural import price index rose 10.8% year-on-year to 128.3, marking the highest monthly increase since December 2022. The surge was primarily driven by a stronger dollar, with the USD-KRW exchange rate reaching an average of 1,527.30 won in June, up 160 won from 1,366.95 won a year earlier. In dollar terms, the same index rose only 0.1%, indicating the price pressure stems from currency weakness rather than global commodity inflation.
