On Monday, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced on his official channel that Toncoin will be rebranded to Gram, the token's original name in Telegram's first white paper, with the rebranding process taking approximately three weeks. Durov stated that The Open Network will retain its TON branding despite the token name shift, calling the move part of a "Make TON Great Again" initiative.
The market responded positively to the announcement, with TON's price jumping 13% to $2.12 and reaching as high as $2.26 during the trading day. At current levels, TON is up approximately 58% over the past month, though still down about 74% from its 2024 peak of $8.25.
