Trump: If the U.S.-Iran talks fail, the U.S. military is ready for a military strike

Gate News message: On April 10, U.S. President Trump said that if the peace talks with Iran failed, U.S. warships were loading the “finest ammunition and the most advanced, best-performing weapons,” preparing to resume military strikes against Iran. At the time Trump made the remarks, U.S. Vice President Vance was traveling to Islamabad, where he would meet with Witkoff and Kushner to conduct peace talks. When asked whether he thought the negotiations would succeed, Trump said in a phone interview: “We’ll know in about 24 hours. We’ll know very soon.” Trump said: “We are loading our warships with the finest ammunition and the most advanced, best-performing weapons—even better than what we used before, and what we had already beaten them with. If we don’t get an agreement, we will use them, and we will use them very effectively.” Trump also expressed skepticism about Iran’s commitments: “You are dealing with people we don’t know whether they’re telling the truth. In front of us, they said they would give up all nuclear weapons—everything would be gone. Then they go out to the media and say, ‘No, we want to do uranium enrichment.’ So we will find out.”
