Two South African AI Startups Selected for Google for Startups Accelerator Africa Class 10

Gate News message, April 21 — Two South African technology startups, Loop and Vambo AI, have been selected to join the 10th cohort of the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program. Chosen from nearly 2,600 applications with an acceptance rate below 1%, they are among 15 companies selected across Africa for the initiative.

Loop digitizes mobility and payments across Africa, providing simpler and more connected transport and payment solutions for individuals, businesses, and communities. Vambo AI builds multilingual AI infrastructure supporting translation, speech, and generative AI capabilities across African languages. The program, running from April 13 to June 19, 2026, will provide dedicated mentorship from experienced industry experts and hands-on technical workshops focused on AI and machine learning.

Since its launch in 2018, the Google for Startups Accelerator Africa program has supported 106 startups from 17 African countries, helping them collectively raise over $263 million and create more than 2,800 jobs.
