U.S. Freezes $131M in USDT Linked to Iran's Central Bank on July 14

The U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control added four Tron wallet addresses to the Central Bank of Iran's sanctions listing on July 14, and Tether froze approximately $131 million in USDT held in the wallets. The designation ties the addresses to Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Qods Force and Hizballah.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated the department is "committed to disrupting and degrading Iran's illicit financial activities, including its abuse of digital assets." The action extends a U.S. campaign against Iran-linked crypto assets running since March 2025, with previous freezes totaling $344.2 million in April.
