U.S. Military Depletes Over 200 THAAD Interceptors Defending Israel, Stock Halved

GateNews
According to the Washington Post citing U.S. Department of Defense officials, the U.S. military significantly depleted advanced air defense interceptors during recent conflicts with Iran on May 22, with consumption far exceeding Israel's own arsenal usage and causing notable drawdowns in American stockpiles. U.S. officials stated that over 200 THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) interceptors were fired, representing approximately half of the Pentagon's total inventory, while more than 100 SM-3 and SM-6 interceptors were launched from naval vessels in the Eastern Mediterranean. The consumption disparity underscores Washington's primary burden in addressing Iranian ballistic missile threats during operations, raising concerns about U.S. global military readiness and security commitments.
