GateNews

According to Jin10 and China's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun on May 22, the U.S. military plans to deploy the Tomahawk mid-range cruise missile system at Kanoya Air Base in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, from June through September for joint U.S.-Japan exercises. Following the exercises, the system will be transferred to U.S. military bases in Japan.

Guo stated that China firmly opposes the U.S. deployment of mid-range missile systems in Asian countries and has repeatedly expressed concerns on the matter. The Chinese Foreign Ministry characterized the Tomahawk system as a strategic offensive weapon that damages regional security interests and escalates military competition risks in the region.
