Zcash Founder: Ironwood Will Verify ZEC Supply On Day One

According to Zooko Wilcox, founder of Zcash, the proposed Ironwood upgrade will enable users to trustlessly verify the ZEC circulating supply on Day One of its activation, addressing concerns following a recently remediated Orchard vulnerability. Wilcox stated in an X post and Zcash Community Forum discussion that users running full nodes will immediately gain independent verification that Zcash's supply of 16 million ZEC (now) and 21 million ZEC (eventually) is sound. The upgrade introduces a turnstile accounting mechanism that prevents excess ZEC from continuing circulation in the old Orchard pool after activation, ensuring no more than 4.5 million ZEC remains in that pool.
