After the renovation at my uncle’s place and the removal of the barricades, we only then realized how much scheming he had stashed away—it’s really something we never could’ve imagined.

He expanded his kitchen outward by three or four dozen centimeters. What’s most outrageous is that he actually directly built my mother-in-law’s clutter shed right into their kitchen—this kind of move is something even a normal person couldn’t come up with.
When my husband went to talk to my uncle and confront him, he actually said, “It’s just extended a little—there’s no impact on your clutter shed.” Is that even something people say?
My aunt was right there chiming in too, saying that from now on they won’t pile things in the kitchen, and then our place at the entrance would be a bit more spacious—so are we supposed to thank them?
When we told my mother-in-law about it, she instead advised us to just drop it, saying my uncle’s renovation isn’t easy, so let it go.
Fine—turns out all the credit went to the good people, which was all my mother-in-law’s doing. We don’t want to get involved in extra matters anymore, but we really feel heartsick at this kind of calculated behavior toward family.
