REX-Osprey and Defiance file for 21 cryptocurrency ETF funds

On October 3, REX-Osprey submitted a prospectus for 21 single-asset cryptocurrency ETFs, including AAVE, ADA, ATOM, ENA, which have a staking feature. On the same day, Defiance also filed for 6 3x leveraged ETFs, evenly split between long and short positions on Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana.

Experts note that the 3x level exceeds the new regulations on ETPs, but the issuer seems to use options to achieve this ratio.

The filing move comes after the SEC approved a common listing standard for cryptocurrency ETPs in September, simplifying the process. However, the review is currently stalled due to the U.S. government shutdown, causing applications to “sit waiting” until the SEC is back in operation.
