AWS Expands OpenAI Integration in Amazon Bedrock

CryptoFrontier

Amazon Web Services announced on April 29 a significant expansion of its partnership with OpenAI, integrating OpenAI’s latest capabilities into its cloud infrastructure. The expansion brings three new offerings to Amazon Bedrock: OpenAI’s latest models (limited preview), the Codex programming agent (limited preview), and OpenAI-powered Managed Agents (limited preview).

Partnership Expansion Details

Effective immediately, customers can access the new OpenAI capabilities through a unified API and control dashboard. This integration is designed to accelerate enterprise-grade AI application development, allowing organizations to leverage OpenAI’s models alongside AWS’s cloud infrastructure through a single interface.

Available Offerings

The three components now available in limited preview are:

  • OpenAI Latest Models: AWS customers can now access OpenAI’s most recent model versions directly through Bedrock.
  • Codex Programming Agent: A code-generation tool powered by OpenAI’s Codex, available in limited preview.
  • Managed Agents: OpenAI-powered managed agent services integrated into the Bedrock platform.

All three offerings are currently in limited preview status, with access provided through the unified Bedrock API and control panel.

Codex has moved to the cloud, so in the future, is it enough to just call GPT-4 directly in AWS when writing code?
