Gate News: On March 13, former ByteDance Seed senior algorithm scientist Tian Zhi (Level 4-1) officially launched the AI intelligence company Maxgent. On the evening of March 12, the company posted job openings for backend, client-side, frontend engineers, Agent product managers, and operations staff. Maxgent focuses on the overseas market with its OpenClaw project and has received investment from Meituan co-founder Wang Huiwen. Tian Zhi graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Sichuan University and earned a Ph.D. from the University of Adelaide in Australia, studying under Professor Shen Chunhua. He is the creator of the well-known object detection algorithm FCOS. In 2021, he joined Meituan as an applied scientist, and in early 2023, he joined “Beyond Light Years,” founded by Wang Huiwen. After Light Years was acquired by Meituan, it was transferred to ByteDance Seed team, where he was deeply involved in the development of the video generation model Seedance. This startup marks Tian Zhi’s second time following Wang Huiwen. The core team also includes the founder of Chatbox.
