Iran Crude Oil Exports Hit Six-Year Low at 209K Barrels Per Day in May

According to Vortexa data, Iran's crude oil and condensate exports fell to 209,000 barrels per day in May, marking a six-year low since late 2019 to early 2020. This represents a sharp decline from 1.34 million barrels per day in April and 1.9 million barrels per day in March. Kpler data similarly showed exports at 260,000 barrels per day in May.

Analyst Claire Jungman cited regional tensions around the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. Navy blockades of Iranian ports, and reluctance from ship owners, insurers, and trading partners to operate in the current security environment as key drivers of the decline.
