Lido CSM node operator incurred a slashing event today, with estimated losses of less than 1 ETH

Gate News, March 13 — Lido DAO contributors reported that a community staking module (CSM) node operator experienced a limited penalty event today involving six validator indices. The initial penalty amount was less than 0.047 ETH (approximately $100), and the final penalty and offline penalties are expected to be less than 1 ETH, covered by the node operator’s staked funds. The protocol is currently operating normally, and stakers do not need to worry. The Lido team and the affected operator are investigating the cause of the incident. During normal operation, daily rewards at the protocol layer typically fluctuate between 0.3 and 2 ETH, so this event has a minimal overall impact on the protocol. Once the affected validators fully exit the Ethereum network, the CSM will automatically trigger the event handling mechanism, deducting the difference between the maximum effective balance and the exit balance of the validators from the operator’s available staked funds.
