Science Corp's PRIMA Retinal Implant Gets CE Approval, Launches in 30 European Countries This Week

According to Science Corp., the company's PRIMA retinal implant received CE approval this week and is now available for sale in 30 European countries, making it the first brain-computer interface device to obtain European certification. The subretinal photovoltaic implant, used with smart glasses, helps patients with geographic atrophy caused by age-related macular degeneration restore central vision. Clinical trials published in The New England Journal of Medicine showed 84% of 38 patients successfully regained functional central vision, with 80% experiencing significant prosthetic vision improvement after 12 months without affecting natural vision.
