TON Foundation Rebrands Toncoin to Gram, Targets Telegram's 900M Users on June 2

TON-10.44%
According to CryptoNews, the TON Foundation rebranded its native token from Toncoin to Gram on June 2, reviving the name from Telegram's original 2018 blockchain project. The rebrand is cosmetic with no token swap or technical migration. Telegram founder Pavel Durov flagged the rename as step four of seven in his publicly stated 'Make TON Great Again' roadmap. Toncoin surged 19% following the announcement, reaching approximately $2.21 before retracing to $2.00. The move targets conversion of Telegram's 900 million monthly active users into on-chain participants, reducing the cognitive gap between the messaging platform's brand and its native crypto asset.
