When Chinese encryption tycoons start buying goldWritten by: Lin Wanwan
Twelve minutes by car north of Singapore Changi Airport, stands Le Freeport, one of the highest security private vaults in the world, at the end of the runway.
This building, costing approximately 100 million Singapore dollars, is known as the "Noxfort of Asia." With no windows, it maintains a constant temperature of 21°C and a humidity level of 55% year-round, perfectly suited for the optimal storage environment of artworks.
Behind the heavily guarded iron gate lies hundreds of millions of dollars worth of gold, silver, and various rare artworks: no customs declaration is required for entry, and not a single cent in taxes is paid.
Three years ago, one of Asia's youngest billionaire crypto tycoons, Wu Jihan, the founder of Bitmain, snagged this rumored vault, which cost as much as 100 million Singapore dollars, for 40 million Singapore dollars (approximately 210 million RMB).
This deal was confirmed by Bloomberg at the time, and behind the buyer is the Bitcoin operated by Wu Jihan.
