Samsung Workers Approach Strike Deadline as DDR4 Prices Rise 20% in China, Raising Supply Concerns

GateNews

According to BlockBeats reporting on May 15, DDR4 memory prices in Shenzhen’s Huaqiang Bei market surged roughly 20% over the past week. Retailers noted that 8GB DDR4 modules jumped from around 600 yuan to 750 yuan, with 16GB DDR4 now quoted at 850 yuan. CFM Flash Market data confirmed the trend, showing consumer-grade DDR4 8GB 3200 spot prices rising to $18, a 20% gain since early May.

The price surge reflects both long-term DDR4 supply constraints and concerns over Samsung’s potential large-scale strike. Any production delays from Samsung could further tighten chip supplies and push prices higher. Samsung Electronics union stated it is willing to resume negotiations “in good faith” if conditions are met.
